Sony launches Xperia Z flagship Android smartphone with 4G LTE and 13MP camera

Are you afraid of getting your cell phone wet in rain? Now you don’t have to worry about that anymore. The consumer electronics giant Sony has introduced their newest flagship smartphone Xperia Z, the Android (4.1 Jelly Bean) handset is both dust and water resistant — IP55 and IP57, specifically — and can survive the rain or even an accidental swim in your local pool.

Xperia Z was unveiled during the Sony’s CES press conference. It is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 1.5 GHz S4 Pro processor and 2GB of RAM and features 4G LTE connectivity. It also includes a new Battery STAMINA mode that is meant to increase standby times by as much as 4 times.

In addition to its durable design — the phone used tempered glass on its front and back as well as an anti-shatter film — it is also packing a punch under the hood. The 5-inch smartphone has a 1080p display, and a 13-megapixel camera. With the Battery Stamina mode the phone automatically shuts down battery-draining apps whenever the screen on the devices is off, powering them back on when you start to use the phone again.

NFC, Near Filed Communication, capabilities in the handset allow Xperia owners to quickly pair the phone with everything from speakers to your television. It can also come in handy with your TV. Tapping the handset on the remote control for one of Sony’s new televisions will let you view the content from your smartphone on your television screen. So you can play Angry Birds or watch Netflix on your TV with a single tap. Isn’t it great?

Sony expects to launch Xperia Z in the next few months. so what you think? Let us know in the comments.
